Spacetime Exploration Notebook
Follow handwritten questions toward verifiable historical evidence.
Purpose
Historical exploration starts with a person, a poem, or a place and needs traceable sources. This tablet-first PWA keeps the handwritten page at the center and adds evidence in the margins.
User journey
- Write a person, place, experience, or work on the page.
- Confirm or edit the transcription; manual input is available without OCR.
- Choose an exploration route and open sourced annotations and evidence cards.
- Continue on another page or collect an annotation as a stamp. Original handwriting is stored locally.
System flow
Handwriting → confirmed transcription → person and route orchestration → Souyun knowledge graph → source verification → marginal evidence
The browser owns the page and handwriting. The server handles OCR, a bounded graph gateway, and Pi sessions. The model receives confirmed text and cropped evidence. Facts are checked against source paths; additional associations are explicitly labeled.
Implemented scope
- Touch-first handwriting, page navigation, continuation, and local persistence.
- Person profiles, work candidates, and place and experience routes.
- Sourced relations, timelines, and expandable evidence cards.
- Explicit ambiguity selection and evidence-gap handling.
Local API and gateway deployments have been recorded. A publicly verified live demo is not yet linked here.
Engineering focus
The implementation emphasizes page interaction, bounded queries, source verification, and cancellation so that late results cannot overwrite a different page. Offline fixtures are labeled and are not presented as real OCR or graph results.
